Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, who is more famously known as simply Michelangelo, was a world-famous architect, sculptor, painter, and poet. He is famous for sculpting the Pietà and the statue of David, but his crowning glories were paintings he did in the opening years of the 16th century, and include the frescos he painted in the Sistine Chapel.
