Born on July 1, 1952 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Dan Aykroyd's father was a policy adviser to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Dan was a member of the Second City comedy troupe in both Toronto and Chicago and gained fame in 1974 as one of the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" on the first seasons of "Saturday Night Live." The co-star of both "Ghost Busters" and "Blues Brothers," the comedian, actor, singer, and screenwriter originally wanted to be a priest. He is an outspoken spiritualist and is married to actress Donna Dixon, and together they have three daughters.
