David Robert Jones (January 8, 1947 - January 10, 2016), known professionally as David Bowie, was born in Brixton, London. He is a British musician, actor and record producer whose first song “Space Oddity” aired in the summer of 1969. Later, he appeared on stage as Ziggy Stardust, and still later, his song “Fame,” hit number 1 in the US. He was married to Mary Angela Barnett from 1970 to 1980, and the two have a son, Zowie Bowie, who is also known as Duncan Jones. In 1992, he married the model Iman, and they have one daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones. Two days after his 69th birthday, David Bowie died of liver cancer in New York. Although he had been diagnosed a year and a half prior to his death, he did not make that information public, and his fans were shocked at the news.
