Art Carney (November 4, 1918 - November 9, 2003) was an American film, stage, and television actor as well as a radio personality. He was born in Mount Vernon, New York, the youngest of six boys. He was drafted into World War II and wounded by shrapnel during the Battle of Normandy. The role which won him fame was the role of Ed Norton in Jackie Gleason’s “The Honeymooner.” He also won the Academy Award for Best Actor in “Harry and Tonto.” He was married to two different women: He was married to Jean Myers from 1940 until 1965, then married Barbara Isaac in 1966 and divorced her in 1977. He remarried Jean Myers in 1980 and they remained married until he died.
