Born November 21, 1962 in Paducah, Kentucky, Steven Curtis Chapman is one of the most prolific singers in the Christian music industry. He has won five Grammy awards and 56 Dove Awards, including seven Dove “Artist of the Year” awards. He and his wife Mary Beth have been married since 1984 and are outspoken advocates of adoption. They have three biological and three adopted children. In 2008, his youngest son accidentally ran over the youngest daughter, Maria, who died as she was being airlifted to the hospital. Steven and Mary Beth talk publicly about the loss and how their faith brought them through it. They also have donated money to build a medical care center in China in Maria’s honor.
