Born in Manhattan on March 14, 1948, Billy Crystal is an actor, producer, director, writer, and comedian. He first came to broad public recognition playing a gay ventriloquist in the sitcom Soap, which ran from 1978 to 1981. He went on to appear in The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and City Slickers and has hosted the Academy Awards repeatedly and won a Tony Award for a play he wrote himself and was a co-host of Comic Relief. He went to college in Huntington, West Virginia. on a baseball scholarship and in 2008, he signed a major league baseball contract for one day in order to play with the Yankees.
