She was baptized Roman Catholic as a child. She became well-known as Joey Potter on "Dawson's Creek" from 1997 through 2003. She married Tom Cruise in 2006 in a Scientology ceremony, and they have a daughter, Suri. In 2012, she filed for divorce amid rumors that she feared that Suri would be abducted by the Church of Scientology. She retained custody of Suri, and they live in New York, where Katie is a parishioner at a local Catholic church.
