Samuel Leroy Jackson was born December 21, 1948 in Washington, D.C. He is a film and television actor. His father, who lived in Kansas City, Missouri most of Samuel’s life, would later die of alcoholism. Samuel was raised by his mother and grandmother. He was a civil rights activist after attending the funeral of Dr. King, and at one point he and his cohorts took a hostages during a campus protest. His mother sent him to live in Los Angeles. There, he became an actor. He has been married to his wife LaTanya since 1980, and they have a grown daughter.
