Bob Marley, born Nesta Robert Marley (February 6, 1945 - May 11, 1981) was a Jamaican singer and songwriter whose music was almost all crossover reggae. His father was Anglo-Jamaican and his mother was Afro-Jamaican. He converted from Catholicism to Rastafarian as a young man. He married Rita Anderson in 1966 and had numerous children. His official website says he fathered 11 children. He died of a malignant melanoma under his toenail.
