In St. Peter Port, in fact in all of Guernsey, all nursery schools, creches, and pre-schools are private schools. There are three of them in St. Peter Port with the number of students in each ranging from 30 to 72.

There are two States schools and one Catholic school in St. Peter Port. When a child in the States school system reaches the age of 11, they an examination, called the 11-plus exams, which determines what senior school they will attend.

Private schools in St. Peter Port include Elizabeth College, The Ladies' College, and Blanchelande College.

Elizabeth College, which was founded in 1563 as an independent day school for boys, now consists of Acorn House which is an infant and pre-school which teaches boys and girls from age three until age seven, junior school which teaches children up to eleven years old, and Elizabeth College which is called senior school for those older than eleven.

The Ladies' College educates girls from pre-school through sixth form or eighteen years of age. The Ladies' College has an arrangement with Elizabeth College whereby older girls can take classes there.

Blanchelande College is a private Catholic college offering educations from pre-school through the time they earn their General Certificate of Secondary Education. Although it was previously a girls' school, it is now co-ed.
