The island of Jersey is the largest and only permanently inhabited island within the Bailiwick of Jersey. It is situated in the English Channel, about twelve miles from France and about eighty-seven miles from Great Britain. It is the largest and southernmost of the Channel Islands. The island is divided into twelve parishes.
