The town of Bracebridge in Ontario, Canada, which has in the center of town a waterfall on the Muskoka River, was named in honor of the Washington Irving book "Bracebridge Hall," which the postmaster who named the town was reading when he was tasked with naming the town. He was also responsible for naming the nearby town of Gravenhurst, which was also from the Irving book. Bracebridge was incorporated in 1875.
