Oakville is a town west of Toronto, on the north shore of Lake Ontario. In 1793, a military road, now Dundas Street, was surveyed. In 1805, the Legislature bought the much of the lands between Etobicoke and Hamilton from the Mississaugus and, in 1807, British immigrants settled the area along Dundas Street and along the shore of Lake Ontario.
