The Republic of Honduras is a Central American country bordered on the west by Guatemala, to the southwest by El Salvador, to the southeast by Nicaragua, and to the north and south by the Gulf of Honduras and the Gulf of Fonseca, respectively. Its capital is Tegucigalpa.
