Located near the geographic center of Southern California, Cerritos is a city in Los Angeles County. Spanish explorers arrived in the late 1400s to find the area inhabited by Native Americans belonging to the Tongva tribe. First incorporated in 1956 as the City of Dairy Valley, its name was changed to Cerritos in 1967, named for the Spanish land grant that figured prominently into its early settlement.
