Glenwood Springs was founded in 1883 as the town of Defiance, but shortly renamed after its founder's wife's hometown of Glenwood, Iowa. The city is located at the confluence os the Colorado River and the Roaring Fork River, and is the seat of Garfield County, Colorado. In its history, the town has seen several famous visitors, including President Theodore Roosevelt, who spent an entire summer there, as well as Doc Holiday, of OK Corral fame.
