The Town of Pagosa Springs is the county seat of Archuleta County. Popular place for vacationing due to the good weather. Situated in the upper San Juan Basin, and in the midst of the 3 million acre San Juan National Forest, the town is the home of one of the hottest and largest natural springs in the world. It is named for the Ute phrase, pah gosah," which means "healing waters."
