A former silver mining camp with just over two thousand people, Telluride is the most populous town in San Miguel County, Colorado. It is located in a box canyon on the San Miguel River in the western San Juan Mountains, surrounded by forested mountains and cliffs. Only one road reaches the town year-round, but there are a couple of off-road routes.
