Mount Dora, Florida, is in Lake County. In 1874, David Simpson and his family settled in the area, and in 1880, it was named Royellou in honor of the postmaster's family members, Roy, Ella, and Louis. In 1883, it was again renamed to its current name, after Lake Dora. It was incorporated in 1910.
