Tybee Island is both an island and a city in Chatham County, Georgia. It is the easternmost point of Georgia, near the city of Savannah. Prior to the arrival of the Europeans, Native Americans hunted and camped all along Georgia's coastal islands for thousands of years. When the Spanish came, they called the island Los Bajos, at which time it was frequented by pirates.
