Boise City, more commonly known as Boise, is the capital of the state of Idaho and the county seat of Ada County. Originally established as Fort Boise, it was loated at the confluence of the Boise and Snake Rivers about 40 miles west of where the city sits today. The fort was abandoned in the 1850s, but the Army re-established the fort in 1863.
