Joliet, Illinois is in both Kendall and Will Counties. In 1833, in the wake of the Blackhawk War, the first log cabin was built. The settlement was incorporated as a village in 1837 and named Juliet, in honor of one of the canal commissioners' daughter. Shortly after that, it was unincorporated due to lack of finds owing to the depression of 1837. Om 1945 the community's name was changed to Joliet, and in 1852, the city of Joliet was reincorporated.
