The city of Ankeny, Iowa is located 7 miles north of Des Moines in Polk County. Founded in 1874 by John Ankeny. In recent years, the city has been recognized by Family Circle Magazine as one of the top ten towns for families and by MONEY magazine as one of the top one hundred places to live.
