The city of Lenexa, Kansas, in central Johnson County, is a few miles west of Westport, Missouri, which is the start of the Santa Fe Trail. Wild Bill Hickock staked a 160-acre claim in what is now downtown Lenexa in 1869. a full twelve years before the town was platted.
