The city of Parsons, Kansas is located in Labette County in the southeastern part of the state. It was founded in 1870 and named in honor of Levi Parsons, the president of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. It boomed during World War II when the Kansas Ordnance Plant (later called the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant) supplied the United States Army.
