Annapolis is the capital of Maryland, which is nicknamed the Old Line State. It was part of the Chesapeake Colonies, and relied on slave labor to harvest its tobacco crop. One of the original colonies, it was the seventh state to ratify the Constitution. It lies just south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
