Takoma Park, situated in Montgomery County, Maryland, is a suburb of Washington, D.C. Founded by Benjamin Franklin Gilbert in 1883, the city is called “Azalea City.” It was incorporated in 1890 and was one of the first planned Victorian commuter suburbs.
