The town of Arlington is in Middlesex County, located about six miles northwest of Boston. It was originally settled in 1635 as the village of Menotomy, governmentally a part of Cambridge. Along with a larger area, it was incorporated in 1807 as West Cambridge, and in 1867 the name was changed to Arlington, in honor of those buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
