The focus of this guide is on topics related to faith, religion, and spirituality in the village of Kalkaska, Michigan.
For the most part, if not entirely, these will consist of links to the websites of Christian churches in Kalkaska, as no other religions are significantly represented within the village.
A recent national survey suggests that residents of Kalkaska are significantly less religious than those in the average Michigan community, or within the United States. According to this survey, 41.9% of respondents in Michigan, and 49.4% of those within the United States, claimed affiliation with a religion, while only 17.6% of Kalkaska residents were religious.
Of those who were affiliated with a place of worship, the majority were Catholics, and the Catholics were followed by the Lutherans, Methodists, Pentecostals, Baptists, and Mormons, although a larger number (even than the Catholics) claimed affiliation with a Protestant denomination that was not part of this survey, or with a non-denominational church.
We do not vouch for the accuracy of this survey, however. There are at least a half dozen churches in Kalkaska. These include, but are not limited to, Calvary Baptist Church, Coldsprings Christian Fellowship, Kalkaska Church of Christ, Kalkaska United Methodist Church, and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Bear Lake Christian Church is nearer the unincorporated community of Bear Lake, between Kalkaska and Grayling, but it has a Kalkaska postal address, so we will include it here.
Of course, any other places of worship or ministries in Kalkaska would also be appropriate for this category, regardless of the particular religion, denomination, or sect.
