The focus of this category is on the legal professions in Michigan. Attorneys and other legal professionals who practice statewide, or in wide areas of the state, are appropriate for this category, as are professional associations and other legal services organizations.
Attorneys and law firms who practice within a local area should be listed in the Cities & Towns category representing their geographic location, however.
The legal professions are represented by attorneys, also known as lawyers, who are engaged in the practice of law, such as in advising and representing clients as a private practitioner in a law firm or as a prosecutor representing the state, county, city, or township.
Other members of the legal professions may include arbitrators, mediators, and conciliators, court reporters, judges, paralegals, and legal assistants. Paralegals and legal assistants are employed or retained by attorneys, law firms, corporations, or government agencies to perform specifically delegates legal work under the direction of an attorney, or for which the attorney is responsible.
