Breezy Point, Minnesota is in Crow Wing County, which is within the Brainerd Lakes Area of Minnesota. The main routes through the city are County Roads 4, 11 and 39. The town grew up around a resort established on Pelican Lake by Captain Billy Fawcett during the Roaring 20’s. Known as Breezy Point Resort, it became a destination for stars such as Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. As the surrounding area became more populated, it was incorporated as the Village of Pelican Lakes in 1939. When a load of furniture was delivered erroneously to Pelican Rapids, a hundred miles away, the resort owners petitioned the town government for a name change, and it became the Village of Breezy Point in 1970, and a city in 1974. Situated on the western banks of Pelican Lake, Lynch Lake, Shaffer Lake, Ossawinnamakee Lake, and several smaller bodies of water are within the city limits of Breezy Point. Nearby communities include Cross Lake, Jenkins, Lake Hubert, Lake Shore, Mission, Nisswa, and Pequot Lakes. Bemidji is about eighty miles north, St. Joseph eighty miles south, and Duluth about one hundred and twenty miles east, while Fargo, North Dakota is one hundred and forty miles west of Breezy Point.
