Danube is in Renville County, Minnesota. The community was laid out in 1899 and named for the European River. A post office was established in Danube in 1903. The small city is situated along US Highway 212, primarily north of the highway, between Renville (west) and Olivia (east). Other nearby communities include Bechyn, Bird Island, Maynard, and Sacred Heart. Granite Falls is about twenty-two miles west, and Redwood Falls is about twenty miles south of Danube.
