Burnsville is a small town in Tishomingo County, in northeastern Mississippi. The community is located along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, on US Highway 72 and Mississippi Highway 365. Nearby communities include Doskie, Farmington, Indian Springs, Iuka, Jacinto, Jobes, Leedy, Midway, and Strickland. Tupelo, Mississippi is about fifty-five miles to the southwest. Settled in 1832, Burnsville was named for Jeremiah Burns, an early settler, and incorporated in 1858.

The Old Tishomingo County Courthouse Museum
Constructed in the style of Romanesque Revival in 1870, the building was partly destroyed in 1886, after which it reopened in a two-story configuration.
