Georgetown is in eastern Copiah County, Mississippi, its eastern border formed by the Pearl River. The Highway 28 Bridge over the Pearl River in Georgetown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as is the Alford-Little House of of Highway 27, just south of town. Mississippi Highway 28 leads west to Hazlehurst, the county seat, and east to Magee, while Mississippi Highway 27 crosses Highway 28 in the northern part of town, then leads northwest to Crystal Springs, and south to Monticello. Other nearby communities include Beech Grove, Egypt Hill, Gallman, Harrisville, New Hebron, Oma, Pinola, Rockport, Schley, Shivers, and Touchstone. Jackson, Mississippi is about thirty-nine miles to the north.
