Horn Lake, Mississippi is in DeSoto County. It was incorporated in 1973 and takes its name from an ox-bow lake nearby. The lake was formerly part of the Mississippi River but changed course some time between 1765 and 1796, leaving a body of water the shape of which looks like a cow horn.
