Bloomsdale is in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri. The town was settled as early as 1839, when it was known as La Fourche à Duclos, which meant the fork of Duclos, for Duclos Creek, which is now known as Establishment Creek. The parish priest, Father Blume, wanted his parishioners to be located on one side of the creek, so he bought land there, on what is the current site of Bloomsdale. The town that grew up there was first known as Blumesdale but, at some point, the current spelling was adopted. Bloomsdale is located along US Highway 61, east of I-55, south of Needmore, west of Ste. Genevieve, north of Rocky Ridge, and northeast of Lawrenceton and Kinsey.
