The city of Foristell spans both St. Charles and Warren counties in center-eastern Missouri. William and Nancy Lockett were the first known settlers in the area. They came in 1835, and Joel David arrived the following year. The small city was founded as Millville in 1856, the year that the Wabash, St. Louis & Pacific Railroad came through the area. A post office was established there under the name of Snowhill in 1858. The community enjoyed rapid growth during the American Civil War, during which both a mill and a tobacco factory were established. During that period, Pierre Foristell became a prominent local citizen, as a large landowner, stock raiser, and tobacco grower, and the town changed its name to Foristell in 1877. Foristell was incorporated as a village in 1979, and as a fourth-class city in 1989. Foristell is located just north of Interstate 70 and US Highway 40, northwest of Wentzville and north of Pauldingville.
