Rogersville, Missouri is located in both Greene and Webster counties. The first settlement in the area was known as Henderson in the mid-1800s. In 1882, the Kansas City & Memphis Railroad came through two miles south of Henderson, and a Dr. Isaac Rogers, a local physician, agreed to contribute fifty dollars to defray the expenses of the new town if it were named in his honor. A post office was established in Rogersville in 1882, and its first school opened in 1885, the same year that its first church was built. Rogersville was incorporated as a village in 1916, and as a fourth-class city in 1948. Rogersville is accessed by US Highway 60 and Missouri Routes B and D. Fordland is northeast of Rogersville, and Cody is to the west. Springfield is about twenty miles to the northwest.
