Southwest City, Missouri is in McDonald County, in the far southwestern corner of the state, on Missouri’s border with Oklahoma and Arkansas. Some Southwest City residents have Arkansas or Oklahoma telephone numbers, although served by the Southwest City post office. Saratoga and Noel are northeast of Southwest City. The history of the town goes back to 1842, when its first settlement took place, and a general store was established there in 1846. Southwest City had a population of 1,500 by 1886.
