Denton is a small town in Fergus County, Montana. The town was named for the Dent brothers, who owned the land upon which the town was built. Its first post office was established in 1888, with Harry Dent as postmaster. The Milwaukee Road railway came to Denton in the early 1910s, the first train pulling into the station there in 1913. Denton is situated along Montana Highway 81, between Coffee Creek and Hoosac, in central Montana.
