Largely an agricultural, wheat-growing area, the small town of Geraldine is in Chouteau County, in central Montana. The town was formed as a stop along the Milwaukee Road railway, and named either for Almira Geraldine Rockefeller, the wife of William Rockefeller, the directory of the railroad, or for their daughter, Ethel Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge. The depot was built in 1913, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During the summer months, Central Montana Rail operates a tourist train from Lewistown to Geraldine, where passengers can tour the restored depot. Geraldine is located along Montana Highway 80, northwest of Square Butte and southeast of Fort Benton, although closer to Square Butte.
