The town of Pinesdale, in Ravalli County, Montana, was founded as a religious community originally known as The Ranch and, even today, the majority of its population are members of the Apostolic United Brethren Church, a polygamous break-off of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The town was chartered as Pinesdale in 1997. Accessed by UN Highway 93, Pinesdale is bordered to the west by the Bitterroot National Forest. Victor is to the northeast, Woodside and Corvallis to the east, and Hamilton to the southeast.
