Situated on Highway 89, between Yellowstone Park to the south, and Glacier National Park to the north, and in the Smith River Valley of the Lewis and Clark National Forest, White Sulphur Springs, Montana is the county seat of Meagher County. The city is named for the natural hot springs in the area, now within the Spa Hot Springs Motel. White Sulphur Springs is a popular starting or ending point for excursions into the Smith River Canyon, and Smith River State Park. Fort Logan is to the northwest of White Sulphur Springs, Forest Green is to the north, and Checkerboard is to the east of the city.
