Named for Randall Fuller, an early settler and cattleman, the city of Fullerton, Nebraska is the county seat of Nance County. The city was platted in 1878. Prior to that, it was part of a Pawnee reservation, and excluded from settlement under the Homestead Act. When the land was auctioned in 1871, Randall Fuller bought large tracts of the former reservation, donating a portion of it for a courthouse. In northwest Fullerton is a place known as Buffalo Leap, historically a place where Indians would drive buffalo off of the cliff as a hunting technique, and known locally as The Leap. Fullerton is situated at the junction of Routes 14 and 22, northwest of Silver Creek, southeast of Belgrade, and northeast of St. Paul.
