The unincorporated resort community of Zephyr Cove is in Douglas County, Nevada. Prior to 2010, it was combined with Round Hill Village as the Zephyr Cove-Round Hill Village census-designated place. Zephyr Cove is a Lake Tahoe community, situated on the Nevada-California border, at the corner point where the Nevada state line slopes to the southeast, separated from California by Lake Tahoe. Skyland and Lincoln Park are to its north, while Elk Point, Tahoe Village and Stateline are to its south, and Genoa is to the east. Historically, the Washoe people were the first to have inhabited the area, while explorers, Kit Carson and John Fremont were among the first Europeans to visit the land, in 1844. In the 1860s, silver was discovered in the Sierra Nevada, which brought several prospectors. Zephyr Cove Resort was built in the early 1900s.
