Canaan, New Hampshire is in Grafton County, and home to the Cardigan Mountain School, which is the town’s most prominent employer. Canaan was chartered in 1761, settled in the years following 1766, and named for the Connecticut hometown of many of its early settlers. Canaan was home to three U.S. congressman, Daniel Blaisdell, Frank Dunklee Currier, and Henry G. Burleigh, who served as a congressman for New York.
