The town of Sullivan, in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, includes the villages of East Sullivan and Ellisville. Incorporated in 1787, Sullivan was named for General John Sullivan, who served in the Continental Army and as the third governor of New Hampshire, although the position was then often known as president. The town is accessed by New Hampshire Route 9. Notable residents of Sullivan have included Rufus Osgood Mason, an early researcher in parapsychology, and John Morressy, a science fiction and fantasy author.
