Incorporated as a borough in 1887, Atlantic Highlands is in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Comprised from portions of Middletown Township, Atlantic Highlands includes the highest point on the eastern seaboard south of Maine. The town overlooks the point where the Atlantic Ocean and Raritan Bay meet at Sandy Hook. Many of the same names that were prominent in Atlantic Highlands in the 1890s remain common in the area today.
