Bloomingdale, New Jersey is a borough in Passaic County. Federal Hill, in Bloomingdale, was the site of the 1781 Pompton Mutiny, a revolt of the Continental Army troops that was crushed by General Robert Howe on orders from General George Washington. Bloomingdale was incorporated as a borough in 1918. Prior to that time, a much larger area was generally thought of as being Bloomingdale.
