Burlington, New Jersey was first incorporated in 1693, and reincorporated by Royal Charter in 1733. In 1784, it was incorporated by the State of New Jersey. Named for the Burlington District of Bridlington, England, Burlington was originally the seat of Burlington County, but that was moved to Mount Holly Township in 1796.
